Who Are Ravats
“The house in the East begins where the carpet is laid”
For over three generations the Ravat Family have weaved colour, wonder and soul into the lives of our patrons, love and an enduring passion for what we sell is key to our success. When Ebrahim and Majida Ravat met and married – it was the joining of two legacies, traders and educators and an alchemy that has served our 3rd generation family concern well. Ebrahim’s grandfather, a compatriot of Eugène Marais, (immortalized in “Die Groot Verlange”) and esteemed trader passed on his love of the savvy negotiation and enduring integrity and Majida’s parents, both respected educators always stressed the importance of mastering your subject with passion. Collectively they made this ethos their own and passed that onto their children. This ethos underpins all we do. In our unassuaged wanderlust we have amassed an outstanding collection of nomadic, village and studio carpets, as well as an unsurpassed collection of new and antique masterpieces. We have the largest showroom of its kind in Africa – replenished regularly by trips to suppliers across the Persian stream where we have unparalleled relationships and access. Meaning we can supply our patrons with exactly what they require in all price ranges, sizes, colours, age and levels of quality. In addition to a knowledge and mastery of subject, the name Ravat’s has become synonymous with constancy and integrity. We guarantee each of our carpets with a certificate of authenticity and have a policy in place that guarantees we will honour any future trade in’s. We also offer after care in the form of cleaning and repairs.
